Clogged drains can cause your blood to seethe
This has happened to all of us – the water fast submerging our toes while are taking a shower. Yuck! A stopped drain pipe. Imagine you are brushing your teeth and you notice that the sink is already half filled with water, Yuck!. Dealing with obstructed drains is all together an unpleasant experience because it is complicated and unsanitary. But the fact is that sooner or later, a bathroom drain pipe is going to become choked or suffer a stoppage. But there are ways to unblock bathroom drains easily and can make this unenviable job a lot easier.
Why Do They Happen?.
Hair, dust and other particles getting stuck in the space between the drain pipe and the pipes are the main cause. Residue from daily use of shampoo, conditioner, soap, cleaners and other products tends to further aggravate the sticky build up. As the mass grows, it restricts the free flow of water, and the drain eventually becomes clogged up. If the water has started building up quickly in your tub or sink, then without delay you should unclog the drain pipe.
Clear Up Your drains fast.
If you want your water to start flowing freely then there are a few things you can do to rectify the problem. The first step is to remove the plug whether the blocked drainpipe is in a sink or bath. With a bathroom sink this can be as easy as pulling it right out or as complicated a problem as looking under the sink and removing the nut that holds it in place. In the case of a bath, an overflow plate may have to be detached so that the entire assembly can be opened up, or there may be provision to unscrew the stopper at the drainpipe itself.
You may be able to see the clog clearly after the plug has been taken out. Chances are you’ll see a clump of hair mixed with other materials just below the drainpipe. Reach down into the pipe and pull out as much as possible. You may find it difficult to get at the clog, in which case you could use something like a wire clothes hanger to fish the material out. This step of removing the residual clumps will remove the local blockage at your drain point.
However other methods can be used in case the blockage is unreachable even with a hanger. Use a drain plunger to loosen the blockage that is deeper down the pipework. To use the plunger the overflow drain pipe pipe should be covered first with the help of a wet cloth, this will make the suction stronger and make it harder for air to enter the pipes. Then put the plunger over the drain pipe mouth and press it up and down repeatedly. When you finally release the plunger, any trapped water should immediately be drained.
If the plunger method fails to properly unblock your drain, you may have to resort to using chemical drain cleaner. It should be noted that chemical drain cleaners should only be used as a final solution as the chemicals are harmful and could damage your bathroom fixtures and sanitary fittings.
Call a professional plumber if all else fails.
After taking all the steps that you can carry out yourself, if the clog still remains, it will be wise to call your neighborhood plumber or drainage services company for some assistance. A professional plumber should quickly solve your problem with his special tools and equipment. It may cost you, but you will find it is worth the money once you can use your sink and shower worry free.
