Lift the lid and look in , depending on the household moat need emptying every 2 to 3 years

if its full then the water will come back up every time you flush and leave a terrible smell. you should try a plunger first and then (carefully) pour some caustic soda down the outside drain. if this doesn’t work, it’s probably blocked. in extreme cases, you will see little streams of crap flowing down your garden when it rains.

try plunging it and if it doesnt help then it is full

If your cesspool is backed up it will leach out of the ground at the lid. This is usually followed by or proceeded by a very foul smell in your yard.
If you think your sewer lines are clogged you can either snake them out at the “clean-out” cap (screw in plug) on your sewer pipe or call a plumber.

Lift slab if level is below the outflow pipe its ok. If you loo has trouble flushing ie; takes time to flow away then it could need emptying. Where I live the cost is £50.00 once a year.
