Introduction To Our Nero Drainage Cells
Our Rainsmart drainage cells are innovative, low maintenance, and easy to install. The cell is for effective draining of excess water during heavy rainfalls and provides the perfect solution for grassy areas, green roofs, planter boxes, and drainage under paved areas. The system can also be used as an underdrain for high groundwater tables.
While 30mm cells primary focus is to assist with the drainage of excess water during the unique cup structure gives it the added bonus of providing a great platform for water retention for passive irrigation and allows vegetation to flourish.
Quick infiltration during heavy rainfall
These cells are commonly used as an underdrain where they allow quick infiltration during heavy rainfall, while also capturing and discharging rising groundwater - transporting it to drainage outlets. Nero Cell has a high load-bearing capacity and a 95% void ratio making them ideal for the following projects:

Using under sports field
Nero Cell 30mm is also perfect for use under sports fields where water can be infiltrated, collected, transported, and re-used where required.
Sports fields consume millions of litres of freshwater every year, the drainage systems for sports fields are based on the principles of gravity and capillary action. Rainsmart Sports field Drainage system is a combination of 30mm Nero Drainage Cell and Ellipse Tank Modules, which allows playing in extreme weather conditions.

The system provides instant access water removal and stores it underground for future use. The Nero Drainage Cell forms a uniform blanket or strips for sub-surface drainage under the playing area. This provides effective water removal from the playing surface at an acceptable rate while creating a perched water table that promotes sustained healthy growth of turf and allows immediate use of the field after a rain event.
This drainage cell layer is simply connected to an Underground Storage Tank comprising of Ellipse tanks wrapped in an Impermeable Liner to store water for future irrigation needs. The system also reduces contamination of local waterways from leached nutrients.
Using in landscaping
Additionally, the shallow and effective drainage profile of Nero Cell helps landscapers make use of mature plants in podium gardens or planter boxes where soil depth and water retention is needed. In these instances, the cell can also act as an air gap and provide an insulation effect.
